The house

All yours, all on one floor

You come in your own front door and you are home. The living room holds the kitchen, the table and the sofa bed; off it are the double bedroom, the twin room and the bathroom with a tub.

The renovation is recent. Outside the street is quiet, you park at the door, and the Velino is right there, rising behind the roof. The village centre, with its bar and bakery, is four minutes on foot.

We leave a printed guide in the house: how everything works, where to eat, what is worth seeing. We wrote it ourselves, and we keep it current.

The details

Six things guests always mention

We did not pick these. They are what comes back in the reviews, one after another.

The coffee

A pod machine and a full drawer: not one capsule but eight or nine kinds, plus herbal teas and biscuits. One guest mentioned it in her review before she got to the bedrooms.

The washing machine

Walkers coming off the Cammino dei Briganti call it "the holy washing machine". There is a drying rack and an iron. You leave next morning with a clean pack.

The sockets

Chargers of every type in the bedroom and the living room, plus an international adapter. Rarely needed. When it is, it saves an evening hunting for an open shop.

The games

Dominoes, Italian playing cards, UNO, mikado and a few books on the shelf. The connection works fine. Everything you need for a relaxed evening indoors.

The door

We open it ourselves. We show you where things are, tell you tomorrow’s weather and where to eat tonight. No key safe with a code.

The parking

At the door, on the street, free. With skis on your shoulder or four shopping bags, it matters.

A beautiful spot very close to the mountains. More close by than you realise at first. The house is very clean and spacious with everything you need. Locally there are a couple of bars, bakery, small shop and cafe.

Tony June 2025

The place

Massa d’Albe, in the Marsica

Twelve hundred residents on the southern flank of the Velino, inside the Sirente-Velino park. Alba Fucens is six kilometres away, Avezzano twelve, the Ovindoli slopes twenty-five. Rome is an hour away.

By car from Rome
One hour. A24 motorway to the Magliano de’ Marsi exit, then ten minutes of climbing road.
By train
Avezzano is on the Rome-Pescara line, twenty minutes away. From the station you still need a car: village buses are few and built for commuters.
Parking
Right at the door, on the street, free. No paid bays, no permits.
In winter
From mid-November to mid-April you need winter tyres or chains on board. It really snows here.

Questions

The five we always get

Can I book here?
No. Availability, price and payment live on Airbnb, which covers the booking with AirCover and has support at any hour. The button takes you to the live calendar.
How many people sleep here?
Four. One double, one twin room, a French sofa bed in the living room. The whole house is yours: nothing is shared with anyone.
Do I need a car?
Not for the village. Bar, bakery and grocery are walkable and the Cammino dei Briganti runs through. For Alba Fucens, Ovindoli or shopping in Avezzano, yes: public transport is thin.
Is the house cold in winter?
There is radiant panel heating with a thermostat. Tell us your arrival time and we turn it on beforehand, so you walk into warmth. We do this as a rule.
Pets?
Not allowed in the house. If you are unsure about your case, message us on Airbnb before booking.
