How do I book Casa Jolie?
Only through Airbnb. Casa Jolie, in Massa d’Albe in the province of L’Aquila, is listed there and nowhere else: Airbnb has the live calendar, the exact price for your dates and protected payment. This site takes no bookings, no payments and no personal data.
Why can I not book here?
On Airbnb the booking is covered by AirCover, payment is protected and support answers at any hour in several languages. For a privately run house it is the safest route for the guest, and the price is the same.
What is the cancellation policy?
The "Moderati" policy applies under Airbnb terms. The exact conditions for your dates appear before payment: those are what count.
Why is the price not written here?
It changes with the season, the number of nights and the number of guests. A fixed figure on this page would be wrong within weeks. On Airbnb you see the real total, taxes included.
The house
How many guests does it sleep?
Four. One double bedroom, one twin bedroom, a French sofa bed in the living room. The whole house is yours: nothing is shared with other guests or with the owners.
Are there stairs?
The house is all on one level. There are a few steps at the entrance. For specific accessibility needs write before booking: we will describe the house as it is.
Is there air conditioning?
No. At 880 metres the summer nights stay cool and for eleven months a year it is unnecessary. There is a portable fan and every window has an insect screen. In winter, heating is by radiant panels with a thermostat.
Is there a washing machine?
Yes, in the bathroom, with a drying rack and an iron. It is one of the reasons walkers on the Cammino dei Briganti pick us. There is no tumble dryer.
Can I work from here?
Yes. There is Wi-Fi and a dedicated desk in the twin bedroom, with a lamp and a socket. Several guests have stayed to work for days. The house also keeps assorted chargers and an international adapter.
Arrival and rules
What time can I arrive?
Check-in between 3pm and 8pm, check-out by 11am, until noon if nobody arrives the same day. We welcome you in person: put your expected time in the Airbnb message. Outside those hours is possible, with a small surcharge.
Do I need a car?
To stay in the village, no: bar, bakery and grocery are walkable and the Cammino dei Briganti passes through Massa d’Albe. For Alba Fucens, Ovindoli, Tagliacozzo or shopping in Avezzano, yes, because public transport is thin. Parking at the door is free.
Are pets allowed?
No, pets are not allowed in the house. If you are unsure about your case, message us on Airbnb before booking.
Can I smoke?
Not indoors. Outside, in front of the house, yes.
Can I have a party?
No. This is a house in a mountain village, with neighbours who live here all year. Quiet hours run from 11pm to 8am and unregistered guests are not allowed.
Do I need ID?
Yes. Italian law requires all guests to be registered with the police, so on arrival we need valid ID for each person, minors included. The data serves that legal requirement only.
The area
Where exactly is it?
At Via Marco Martorelli 12, 67050 Massa d'Albe (AQ), Abruzzo, at 880 metres on the southern flank of Monte Velino. One hour from Rome, fifteen minutes from the Magliano de’ Marsi motorway exit, six kilometres from Alba Fucens.
How far are the ski slopes?
Ovindoli-Monte Magnola is twenty-five kilometres away, about half an hour. Campo Felice is just under an hour. At Marsia near Tagliacozzo the lifts have been closed for years: you go there for snowshoes, not for skiing.
Does it work with children?
Yes, and several families have said so in their reviews. The house is on one level, spacious, with window guards and board games. We have no baby equipment: if you need a cot or a high chair, ask before booking.
