The route

A hundred kilometres in seven days

The Cammino dei Briganti follows the trail of the Cartore brigand band, between the Abruzzo Marsica and the Lazio Cicolano. It starts and finishes at Sante Marie, crossing woods, plateaus and villages tourism never reached.

Since May 2022 an official variant, waymarked on the ground and with a GPS track, brings the route through Massa d’Albe and up to Alba Fucens. It is why a growing share of our guests arrive on foot.

Questions

What walkers ask

Is the house on the route?
Yes. The variant opened in 2022 brings the trail through Massa d’Albe: the white-red waymarks pass a few hundred metres from the door.
Can I wash my clothes?
There is a washing machine, a drying rack and an iron. Reviews call it "the holy washing machine", and that phrase is not ours.
Can I arrive late?
Check-in runs from 3pm to 8pm, but walkers rarely keep a timetable. Message us on Airbnb and we sort it out. Later is possible, with a small surcharge.
Can I eat in the village?
A couple of bars, a bakery and a grocery, all a few minutes on foot. The house has a full kitchen, pots and a coffee supply: many prefer to cook and stay put.
